Y/N's POV

I woke up the next morning wrapped in a familiar pair of arms. I had spent the entirety of last night baking and decorating the two cakes. Sho-chan wanted to help, but I wanted it to be a surprise when he saw his cake. I looked at the clock which hung from my wall. It's 11:00 and I need to leave at 1:30 to make it in time. I turned to see Sho-chan still sleeping peacefully. Out of habit, I began playing with his hair.

"Shouldn't you sleep more?" came a low voice.
"Sorry, did I wake you up?" I asked. I watched as Sho-chan slowly got up and stretched.
"No, it's fine."
"I'm going to start getting ready." I said as I got up to take a shower.
"But it's early."
"Have you never seen how long it takes for a girl to get ready??"
"Nope, but you won't need two hours."
"You're right. Two hours is too much, but I normally take around one hour and thirty minutes so I always need to get ready as early as possible. Not to mention, I still need to make us breakfast."

I chose an outfit from my closet, set it down on my bed and entered the bathroom. I took off my clothes and entered the shower. The warm water felt nice on my skin.

Todoroki's POV

I continued to lay in bed for a while until I eventually decided to get up. I checked the time. It was now 11:26. I heard the sound of the shower still running.

"Y/N?!"
"Yeah?" Her voice called back.
"What the hell are you doing?!"
"What do you mean?"
"You've been in there for like 20 minutes!"
"W-what?!"

After a few seconds, I heard the shower turn off.

"Umm... Sho-chan..?" I heard Y/N's voice through the door.
"Yeah?"
"Umm... Do you mind handing me my towel? It's on my bed..." I looked to my left and saw a white towel. I grabbed it and approached the door. I knocked lightly and watched as it creaked open. A hand poked out from inside. I gave Y/N the towel and flopped back onto the bed. Eventually, the door opened to reveal Y/N. Her H/C hair hung over her shoulders.

"W-what are you looking at?!" screamed Y/N as she noticed me looking. Her face was a bright red.
"What else?" I replied, smirking. I was immediately bombarded with petals.
"Pervert!"
"You can't blame me."
"Yes I can! Now turn around!" I did as I was told. "You can turn back around now." I turned to find Y/N in a cute pink and white outfit.

"If I didn't know any better, I'd say you were going on a date."
"Am I not allowed to look nice when visiting a friend?" she asked.
"Not if that friend is a boy."
"Well my friend is a girl AND old enough to be your mother, so shut your face." By now it was 11:47.
"I'm going to get ready now."
"Go ahead, I'll start making breakfast once I'm done drying and brushing my hair."
"Alright."

I got up and made my way into the bathroom.

Y/N's POV

I finished getting ready and went downstairs to prepare breakfast. I made us each two pancakes. I then went over to the fridge where I had stored the two cakes I made last night. I took out the one I made for my friend and wrapped a ribbon around the box it was already in. By the time I had prepared everything, Sho-chan walked down the stairs.

"So where should we go after our visits?" asked Sho-chan.
"There's a café that I think you'd like, but I don't know how far it is from where you're going."
"Where is it?"
"Do you remember the sludge villain accident? It's actually right across the street from where it happened."
"That's quite close to where I'm going. Only about two blocks away."
"Really? Then we can go there. I'll text you the address." I took out my phone and sent him the address.
"Thanks. It's 1:25 now, shouldn't you get going?" I looked at the clock. I quickly grabbed my bag containing my phone and other necessities along with the cake, and headed for the front door.
"Almost forgot, your cake is in the fridge!" I called before heading outside.

I created a platform of petals and made my way over to my destination.

Todoroki's POV

I sighed as I watched the H/C haired girl exit the house. I finished my food and grabbed my stuff as well. I began walking towards the hospital where my mom was sent. The walk was rather peaceful. As I went, I thought back to the past. To my mom. To the time she poured boiling water on my face. To what she said as she did that. Eventually, I arrived at the hospital.

Ever since that day, I thought my presence would put pressure on Mom, so I never went to see her.

I made my way to the front desk and asked for my mom's room number. They kindly told me it was located on the second floor. Room 315. I stared at the door for a while, drowning out the world around me. Suddenly, cheerful voices brought me back to reality. Although the voices were muffled by the closed door, I could tell the two speaking inside the room were very happy to be talking to each other. Who is talking to my mom? I carefully opened the door to find a woman with white hair sitting on the bed. My eyes widened as I noticed who she was talking to. A familiar H/C haired girl sat beside my mom. They both seemed to glow with the light that came from the window. I opened the door a bit wider. That's when Mom noticed me. Her eyes went wide, and Y/N looked at her with confusion. Then I heard my name.

"Shouto..." My mom's voice came out soft and tired. Y/N's eyes went wide. She quickly turned her head to find me.
"Sho-chan... Don't tell me..." She looked back at my mom. "Rei-san... Is Sho-chan the son you've been talking about..?" I watched as a faint smile appeared on my mom's face. She nodded her head. I watched as Y/N grasped Mom's hand. "I'll come back to visit soon. You two deserve some time to yourselves." She then got up from her stool and gave me a reassuring smile before exiting the room.

I let out a breath I didn't even realize I was holding.

"Mom..."
"Shouto.. I'm so sorry..." I watched as tears formed in her eyes. I quickly ran over and pulled her into a warm embrace.
"There's nothing to be sorry for, don't cry." I felt sadness overwhelm me. After all these years. Here she is, right in front of me.
"I have done so much. I left you with a scar that you had to live your life with. That alone is unforgivable... But on top of that, I wasn't there to watch you grow up." Tears fell from her face.
"It's not your fault."
"Yes it is... everything is..."
"No it isn't! This was all Dad's doing... He caused all of this..." I didn't notice the pain in my voice.
"Let's forget about it... leave it in the past?"
"That's what I've been trying to do ever since you were forced to leave." Tears had formed and made their way down my face. Mom reached up and wiped them away, giving me a soft smile.
"Tell me about your life... everything that happened after I left."

I told her everything. Starting from the training at home. I told her how Fuyumi and Natsuo were doing well. I told her about how Touya left and we lost contact with him. I told her about school. About how I entered UA through Dad's recommendation. And about how I met Y/N. Her eyes went soft at the mention of Y/N.

"Mom, how did you come to know Y/N?" I asked. "She told me that she had to stay here for two weeks and during that time, she met you."
"Y/N... that girl is amazing... She visits me every now and then. I came to know her when she was on her daily food deliveries. It was her sixth day here. When she first saw me, she looked shocked. For a moment I was confused. I wondered if I had seen her from somewhere before, but then she asked me: 'How do you do that? How do you smile when you're so sad?' Her voice was soft and pained. I didn't know what to say. After that, we started talking together. We spent entire days just talking about our lives before coming here. At first, she was hesitant about telling me her past, but she opened up to me. I remember crying with her for hours..."

My mom's voice trailed off. She stood up and walked over to a cabinet which hung from one of the walls. She opened it and grabbed a box from inside. She then brought it back to her bed, where she opened the box. Inside were pictures. They were pictures of her and Y/N. She picked each one up fondly. She carefully showed me each one. A specific photo of my mom flying around on a platform created by the familiar petals caught my eye. In it, Mom looked so free. She seemed so happy.

"You know... when I heard about the USJ incident, I was scared. The news said Y/N was in a coma and that they didn't know when or if she would wake up... After informing everyone about Y/N's condition, it showed the entire class that was involved. When I saw your face appear on the screen, I didn't know what to think... I felt so happy to know that you were okay... but the news also showed your scar... the scar I left..." Mom reached for my face and caressed the scar with her hand. "I was terrified when I saw you compete in the sports festival." My mom let out a light laugh. "How could I not be scared? My son who I wasn't allowed to watch grow up was competing in a sports festival and against an explosive boy with attitude problems nonetheless. But I felt like everything was going to be alright when I watched Y/N's performance. I even called all the nurses and children into my room to watch with me."
"Children?" I asked, "What children?"
"Y/N's quite popular with the children here. I wouldn't be surprised if she was with them right now."
"Jeez, everyone likes her. I need to keep my guard up now." I said, laughing.
"Keep your guard up? Don't tell me... Do you like her?" My mom's face lit up.
"Yeah... Since you two know each other I was wondering what she would consider a good date." I wasn't aware of my red face as I said this. Mom squealed in joy.
"Today has been wonderful! First, Y/N visits me. Next, you visit me. Then, I find out who's going to be my future daughter in law!" Now my face was even redder. "All of that aside, don't hurt her."
"Trust me, you aren't the first to tell me this. What did she go through that makes everyone so protective of her?"
"She'll tell you when she's ready." replied Mom. I didn't push for an answer.

We continued to talk until I realized it was already 5:00. I have been here for about three hours. I ended our conversation and told Mom I needed to go. I exited the room and asked the reception lady on the bottom floor if she knew where Y/N was.

"Oh, Y/N? That angel is probably with the kids. Let me take you there."

She got up after asking one of her coworkers to take over and led me to the elevator. We travelled to the third floor. She stepped out and I followed. Eventually, I heard the sounds of children laughing. The nurse pointed to a door then walked away. I approached the door and opened it to find children laughing. Petals covered the floor. A couple boys chased each other with airplanes in their hands. A few girls played with dolls in the corner. A cluster of children were playing with building blocks. In the middle of the room, I found Y/N. She sat cross-legged on the ground. A girl with long hair sat in her lap as she braided it. Two other girls were braiding Y/N's hair while three boys gathered petals and decorated her hair with them.

"There! Done!" exclaimed Y/N. The girl who was sitting in her lap got up and did a twirl. In doing so, she noticed me.
"Hey, Y/N-chan, who is that?" asked the girl as she pointed at me.
"Hm?" asked Y/N. She then followed the girl's finger to find me standing in the door way. "Oh! Sho-chan! You're done?" She asked smiling. Suddenly all the kids in the room turned towards me.
"Y/N-chan, stay back! He might be a bad guy!" yelled one of the boys.
"Yeah!" yelled the others in unison. In only a few seconds, the kids formed a wall which surrounded Y/N. I heard her laughing behind them.
"It's alright everybody! I know him!" The children slowly broke apart, but a few of the boys kept glaring at me. "Alright, everybody, this is Shouto Todoroki!"
"Todoroki?! You mean he's the one you told us about?!" squealed one of the girls. She was jumping up and down excitedly.
"Him?!" yelled a few more of the kids.
"Yup! Since he has finished talking to his mom, I need to go." She slowly got up, but one of the kids clutched her skirt.
"When are you coming back?" asked a girl. In one hand she held Y/N's skirt, in the other she held a teddy bear.
"I don't know, but trust me, it'll be soon." Y/N gave the girl a pat on the head before turning to me. She waved good bye and exited the room with me.

"I didn't know you were good with kids." I said.
"Good with kids? I wouldn't say that. I've just known them for while, that's all."
"It's 5:20 now. Do you still want to go to the café?"
"Since we have tomorrow off, let's go tomorrow morning. I plan on training tomorrow afternoon." She gave a tired yawn.
"Alright." We walked back to her house in a comfortable silence.
